Visa Authorization by Humanitarian Reasons

The Humanitarian Visa may be issued when a person or a Federal Public Administration need humanitarian support of a foreigner.

This is also applicable when a foreigner is in need to travel into Mexico to take care of a sick person, or because his/her life is in danger.

In the case of a Federal Public Administration, this visa may be granted when the support of multiple foreigners is required in a natural catastrophe or humanitarian reason.

Immigration Law

Article 37. To enter Mexico, foreigners must present at the immigration point of entry, the following documents:

  • Passport or identity travel document, valid in accordance to the existing international law, and
  • When required, visa validly issued and in force, in terms of Article 40 of this Law; or

Visitor visa without permission to engage remunerated activities (Article 40).Authorizes the foreigner to present itself in any place intended for international transit of people and request their entry into Mexico, this to remain on an uninterrupted period of time, no longer than one hundred eighty days starting from the date of entry.

Where can I apply for a Visa Authorization by Humanitarian Reasons?

How long does it take?

Can I start this process from abroad?

Yes it is possible, as long as the person with who you accredit family ties with it is also with the foreigner when abroad.

For how long is my visa valid?

The humanitarian visa is valid for 6 months, starting from the day that the consulate stamps the visa.

This visa is only to travel into Mexico, once you arrive to an airport or border; you will request an FMM valid for up to 30 days. This period of time is given so that the foreigner can exchange the visa for the Resident card.

What happens if my visa has expired?

You will need to start your procedure once again at a consulate or at an INM office.

Can I use this visa more than once?

No, because once you enter Mexico,your visa has to be exchanged within the time period determined by the Law.

How much does it costs?
